Describing I2V Communication in Scenarios for Simulation-Based Safety Assessment of Truck Platooning

V2X communication plays an important role in the transition towards connected, cooperative, automated driving. Wireless enables instant information exchange between vehicles (V2V) to support, e.g., platooning, and infrastructure (I2V) inform on, local speed limit or approach of accident location. In Horizon 2020 HEADSTART project, we have shown how test V2V a scenario-based safety assessment framework. Safety aims determine impact on case potentially critical scenarios, due to, parallel deterioration communication. this study, extend methodology with incorporation I2V The developed method allows us treat independently. We demonstrate use Intelligent Speed Adaptation I2V-functionality for platooning trucks. practical implementation descriptions that consider potential signals standardized OpenSCENARIO format is shown. study illustrates tests are performed hardware-in-the-loop setup specifically testing functions. availability capable dealing step type approval methods Cooperative, Connected Automated Mobility (CCAM) systems.
